FAQ
Question:
We still want to have a lawn but don't like the synthetic type. Are there any other grasses that don't require as much water as tall fescue?
Answer:
There are some varieties available that require half the water and fertilizer that tall fescues do. They still have a soft feel and actually self heal from dog damage and handle more traffic.
Question:
Do I need a desert landscape to have a drought tolerant yard?
Answer:
No. there several varieties that are not cactus or succulents that can tolerate less water once established. Many are plants we all have already but over water because of being mixed with other "thirsty" plants.
Question:
I just put in a new irrigation controller that my contractor recommended and now I want to have a weather based controller. Do I need to replace the controller to change to weather based?
Answer:
Not always. Depending on the brand, there are upgrades available that will convert your current controller to be weather based.
Question:
What height should I keep my lawn?
Answer:
With tall fescue the typical recommendation is 2 1/2"- 3". However, to retain moisture and keep a greener look it is a good idea to allow it to grow a little longer. Also when mowing, you only want to cut about 1/3 of its length. Otherwise you are removing the green that you spend money fertilizing and watering.
